In case you're avoiding spoilers for the next Star Wars film set for release in December 2019, this post contains info about one legendary character's epic return. Read at your risk!
After Star Wars: The Last Jedi left its story with Luke Skywalker's death and Rey leading the resistance away from Kylo's army, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker journeys with new and familiar faces across the galaxies. While one big return of Billy Dee Williams returning as Lando Calrissian has been known for months and remains exciting news, nothing could shake the Star Wars fandom like the surprise re-entry of an old foe: Emperor Palpatine. Believed to be dead after Darth Vader kills his master to save his son in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Darth Sidious has been still chilling in the galaxy all these years and ready to make a comeback.
To say that I was personally shook to my core is an understatement. In the minority of loving the prequels but in the majority of fans who love Ian McDiarmid, the return of Emperor Palpatine was nothing I ever expected.
