The Avengers: Infinity War (2018) Trailer Reaction

After nearly twenty movies following every other superhero in the Marvel catalogue, the fight between good and evil all comes to a head with The Avengers: Infinity War. Earth's mightiest heroes unite to fight against Thanos, a superbeing causing destruction throughout the galaxies on the hunt for the Infinity Stones. Hype has been building for this galactic movie since Comic Con this year, and why not - it's filled with every actor of the Marvel Cinematic Universe all kicking butt and taking names.

Hold onto your Spidey-senses as we get straight into the new trailer! SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT

I don't know about you but this is one heck of trailer the studios have been taunting us since the dawn of time. Does it disappoint or excite you guys?

We have to talk about the feels that explode with the new and older Avengers, how far all of them have come so far, and that mindboggingly all of the movies so far come together.

In the beginning of the trailer, Nick Fury's initial intention is echoed by the original castmates: The idea was to bring together a group of of remarkable people to see if they could become something more. To see if they could work together when we needed them to, to fight the battles that we never could. Taking us back to the first Avengers film from 2008, the team players Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hulk, Thor, and Hawkeye struggled, and then successfully, worked together to end Loki's plan for domination.

Then, Avengers: Age of Ultron played with the idea of who the superheros were beyond what the world needed them. While some like Thor and The Hulk disappeared off the battlefield, others continued to carry on missions as best as possible. Until Captain America: Civil War, the group was  driven into opposite sides of a new issue. In Captain America's last standalone film, the U.N. wanted them to sign an accord that controlled their missions or marked them as vigilantes if they stepped out of line. Iron Man, Roadie, Black Widow, Spiderman, Vision, and T'Challa faced off against Captain America, Bucky, Ant-Man, Scarlett Witch, Hawkeye, and Falcon.

Which brings us barely to Infinity War because I'm barely scratching the surface here. Thanos and all of the relationships between the superheros has been developing throughout the Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor trilogies, the Avengers and Guardians movies, Doctor Strange, Spiderman Homecoming, the upcoming Black Panther. *phew* The list of all of the appearances in part one of this two-part battle is long, not to mention the fact that we could end up losing a few before the to-be-titled part two kicks in. So to say this one is huge is an UNDERSTATEMENT.

Right now, the battlefield takes place in at least two places on Earth - NYC Wakanda, and other planets, once again dividing the superheroes again, but this time around, all of them are battling the same cause. If Thanos succeeds in gathering all of the Infinity Stones (Mind, Time, Soul, Reality, Power and Space), he will be all-powerful and can control every aspect of the universe. This is something that's going to need all hands and superpowers on deck to win.

As for this film's villain, he's been threaded throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but this is the first time where he is the center of the story. Meaning, there's so many easter eggs to go through, it'd be impossible to cover them all here (but io9 has us covered). Can anyone say a marathon of the entire series is on the way to refresh our memories? I'm totally on board for that.

The trailer itself has some super big mega awesome moments! Shall we count them down?

0:06 - Tony's on an alien world, looking distraught
0:10 Again, the opening theme hitting with Nick Fury's quote
0:11 - Hulk lands in Doctor Strange's Santorum via the roof
0:18 - Scarlett Witch and Vision (in human form) gaze into each other lovingly. Could this possibly be a good-bye?
0:41 - "In time, you will know what it's like to lose, to feel so desperately that you're right, than to fail all the same. Dread it. Run from it. Destiny still arrives." - Thanos
0:46 - Perhaps already aware that trouble is on the way, Doctor Strange, Wong, Bruce Banner, and Tony Stark are already gathered together before....
0:46 - Stark is calling Captain America - "If you need us, if you need me, I'll be there," from Captain America Civil War
0:51 - Tony Stark walks outside of Sanctum Sanctorum, panicked, linking to....
0:52 - Peter Park grows up in front of us as Spiderman's spidey senses are set off by a giant ring, possibly a portal settling over New York City

1:02 - Tony looks to have replaced his Arc Reactor despite removing all of the schrapnel and not wearing it in Homecoming or Iron Man 3. What happens to Stark that makes him wear it again?
1: 07 - Loki might or might not be walking over an Asgard's body, but he's definitely handing over the Tesseract
1:24 - "Evacuate the city. Engage all defenses. And get this man a shield." - T'Challa

1:36 - Captain America and T'Challa duking it out
1:37 - Thanos throwing down Spiderman?! Is this the same planet where Tony is at the beginning?! What is going on here?!
1:42 - Vision being tortured for the Mind Stone he possesses
1:52 - Bucky wakes up to hell on Earth and is still prepared to battle it out
1:54 - Black Panther ready with his people to fight
1:55 - Falcon shooting down Thanos's army from the air!!
2:00 - Everyone heading to the movie theaters on opening night
2:03 - The rest of the Avengers theme song comes to an end
2:16 - Thor broods exactly where he is after being a tortured by a crazy contraption in space
2:18 - Oh yeah, there are the Guardians! We couldn't forget about them. Groot is a teenager!!!

Directed by the Captain America duo Anthony and Joe Russo, Infinity War culminates everything that has taken place so far with a star-studded extravaganza. Are you ready to assemble? I know I am. What do you think of the trailer? Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters in May 2018.

I'm already in line at the theater.
