Rick Grimes is the bad-ass leader on The Walking Dead. As a former police officer, a father, and a leader, he is willing to do anything to keep his family alive. Previously I compiled a list of my favorite quotes from the series, but I left this sheriff out. Plainly because Andrew Lincoln has delivered so many awesome, chilling, and even heartbreaking lines, it was hard to not compile and devote a list to his iconic anti-hero. As promised, here are fifteen killer quotes by the man. Think I missed a few of his best quotes? Feel free to share in the comments below!
Oh sweet baby Grimes at the start of the series - so pure and innocent, like a cinnamon roll too precious for this world. (Days Gone By, season 1)
One of the very first tests Rick faces in protecting not only his wife Lori and son Carl, but Herschel's family too against two stragglers who want to know where their camp is. (Nebraska, season two)
Goodbye Ricktatorship, Hello Rickocracy. (This Sorrowful Life, season three)
Us fans know when Rick has flipped a switch, or a ****, when he gives that classic Terminator stare and head-tilt. Tied up to be slaughtered, it's the chilling conviction of his words that make us know: Gareth and the Termites are messing with the wrong the people. (No Sanctuary, season five)
Season six might've been a-okay but that quarry was definitely insane. (First Time Again, season six)
Finally two seasons of dabbling in "war" against the Governor comes to a head when he arrives on the prison's front yard complete with captors and tanks. Rick's speech to try to work everything out is one of the best and hearbreaking scenes before everything goes to hell. (Too Far Gone, season 4)
That's funny coming from a man who just put a gun to my head. Oh, how things have changed. *side-eyes season six* (Wildfire, season one)
Rick gives some tough but heart-to-heart advice to lil Carl about the world they're living in. Such a profound moment in Secrets but also comes back to haunt the tyke in Killer Within with Lori's death....That's not the sound of my soul breaking in half.
REALLY, we could count the entire monologue of this scene. Andrew Lincoln is once again superb as Rick's desperation and almost sheer lunacy shows its ugly face. (Try, season five).
One of the show's most iconic moments. Shane has finally flipped his lid and tries to take Rick out. Rick refuses to draw on his best friend - for the moment anyways. (Better Angels, season two).
Such a powerful but quiet moment that a lot of comic book fans were waiting for. It's quite the different message from season two when Rick was telling everyone to fend for themselves or to follow his Ricktatorship. (Them, season five).
Rickyl is united!! (A, season four)
OH MAN, the season five finale had so many things going for it. Rick showing up at the council's meeting with a walker he killed slung over his shoulder and then delivering a speech about how he is going to make Alexandrians learn how to survive. SWEET. (Conquer, season five)
Tomas tries to get Rick killed by throwing walkers in his path. Thankfully Daryl and T-Dogg are with them to save him but Papa Grimes has had enough. The silence before the storm is almost deafening. As you know - **** happens. WHACK. (Sick, season three).
So this is what the inside of a can of whoop-ass looks like. (A, season four)
